Nguyen Huynh Doan Khanh

NGUYEN HUYNH DOAN KHANH, January 31st , 2008. Khanh was diagnosed with congenital heart defect when she was 4 months old. She is an excellent student but often gets sick and won’t survive without a heart operation. Thanks to ISHCMC Khanh will soon be admitted to hospital. We wish Khanh only the very best and happy future.



Le Thu Dinh

LE THU DINH, November 27th, 2015 needs her operation to survive. Thanks to American International School, AIS Dinh will soon be operated and be able to live a normal life. We wish Dinh only the very best.



Huynh Tan Canh

HUYNH TAN CANH, born November 04th , 2000. Canh had his 1. heart surgery in 2015 but unfortunately must be operated again. Thanks to the donation from Grace’s cookies, Organik shop and Dancenter this will now be possible. We wish Canh only the very best and full recovery.

Nguyen Phi Hung

Nyugen Phi Hung is a 3-year old boy from the island of Phu Quy, Binh Phu province. He is born with a congenital heart defect and cataract. His father is a fisherman and his income is uncertain as it depends on the catch. His mother worked to supplement the family income. However, she had to stop working to look after her sick child. Doctors said that Hung had to be operated as soon as possible to survive and then to get his cataract operation not to loose his eye sight. Through Heartbeat Vietnam and the generous donation of "La Paroisse du Sacre-Coeur, Lausanne" and Gracie’s Cookies, Hung had his operation on 16th March 2015. We wish him and his family all the best for a healty and happy future.



Ho Le Bao Nguyen

Bao Nguyen was born into a poor family in the farming province of Phu Yen. Very soon after he was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease and his family had to borrow to provide him with the necessary medical care.  However, his condition worsened and he needed urgent corrective surgery that his family could not afford. With the help of the Australian International School, AIS Vietnam Thao Dien, through Grace’s Cookies and Heartbeat Vietnam, he was able to have his surgery in January 2015 and will be able to lead a normal life. We wish Bao Nguyen and his family all the best.



Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhung

Ngoc Nhung was diagnosed with a heart disease at birth.  She has been under medical observation since.  Her family has to borrow to pay the bills as her father’s meager income was bearly enough to support the family.  Her father passed away recently and this has made her need for corrective surgery so much more urgent.

Grace’s Cookies together with Heartbeat Vietnam was able to sponsor her surgery in October, 2014.



Vo Van Chien

Chien is the fifth child and is born with a congenital heart disease.  His father left the family soon after he was born.  His mother had to borrow for his first operation in 2000 but unfortunately his condition did not improve.  He is doing well in school, but feels tired easily and needs a second operation.  His mother’s income of USD150/month was barely sufficient to support the family and to look after another sister who was critically ill.

Donations from El-Khoury, Mercier and Kattan families together with Grace’s Cookies have enabled Chien to have his second surgery in September 2014.  We wish Chien a full recovery and to continue to do well in his studies for a brighter future.



Tran Thi Kieu Hoa

Three year old Hoa is the younger of two children.  She suffers from a life threatening atrio –ventricular septal defect.  She requires urgent surgery.

Working at a warehouse, her Father earns approximately USD 70 per month.  This salary has to cover the family’s rent, living expenses, school fees  (for Hoa’s older brother) and Hoa’s medical costs.  Money is simply not available for life saving surgery. 

From money raised by ISHCMC through Grace’s Cookies and Heartbeat Vietnam , the Hieu Ve Trai Tim Foundation and the local government, Hoa’s surgery has been made possible.

 



Phan Ba Phuoc

Four year old Ba Phuoc is waiting for life saving heart surgery as he suffers from a congenital heart defect which increasingly affects the quality of his life on a daily basis.

His parents are hired labourers and their combined income is low and unstable.  His older sibling’s school fees have to be paid and meeting daily expenses is hard.  The income does not stretch to paying for the surgery that Ba Phuoc urgently requires.

Thanks to funds raised by ISHCMC through Grace’s Cookies and Heartbeat Vietnam, HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients and the local government, Ba Phuoc has received the necessary surgery he vitally needed.



Le Quoc Danh

14 month year old Danh was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect shortly after his birth and requires life saving surgery.

Danh’s Father earns the family’s income as a farmer, whilst his mother cares for her only child at home.   Danh’s Father earns less than USD 50 per month and this meagre salary has to support Danh, his parents as well as his Grandparents who also live with him.   The cost of the essential surgery that Danh needs to live is therefore prohibitive.

Only with financial assistance from AIS, through Grace’s Cookies and Heartbeat Vietnam and the local government has the cost of Danh’s surgery been met.



Phap

Phap, born under a year ago suffers from a ventricular septal defect. He requires essential heart surgery to enjoy a normal life. His family of six, (father, mother, sister, uncle, grandmother and great grandmother) earn less than USD 80 a month and are unable to afford his surgery.

Donations from Heart Beat Vietnam—VinaCapital Foundation as well as the El-Khoury, Mercier, Favre, Favrod and Kattan Families, through Grace’s Cookies in addition to funds from the local government have allowed Phap to have this essential surgery.



Ngoc

Five year old Ngoc has been suffering from the symptoms of congenital heart disease since turning 4 months old. In addition to experiencing heart palpitations, she is malnourished as she cannot hold down food and has had to stay in hospital for considerable periods of time. Both Ngoc’s parents are unable to work, due to poor health and thus are unable to afford the cost of the heart surgery she desperately needs.

Thanks to the generous donations of Heart Beat Vietnam through the VinaCapital Foundation, and the El Khoury, Mercier, Favre, Favrod, Kattan Families, Grace’s Cookies and The Children Action Organisation, Ngoc, has successfully undergone open-heart surgery.



Nguyen Tuyet Nhi

Since birth, Nguyen Tuyet Nhi has been waiting for heart surgery to save her life. On a daily basis, the two-year has to cope with the symptoms of her condition from coughing to severe shortness of breath. Her parents have been unable to finance her surgery due to their precarious financial situation; their monthly salary is irregular and low.

Thanks to Heartbeat Vietnam of VinaCapital Foundation and the funds raised from selling Grace’s Cookies, medical insurance and CPT Company and Mr Luong Trung Thanh’s fund, Nhi has received surgery and is successfully recuperating.



Huynh Giao

Having already undergone two major heart operations, a third operation is essential for 6-year Huynh Giao’s survival. Her parents, a teacher and farmer, earn less than USD150 per month and having met the cost of her previous operations and the related follow up treatment, are unable to afford the $5000 needed for her to live.

Thanks to fundraising by AIS through Grace’s Cookies and donations from Heartbeat Vietnam of the VinaCapital Foundation, Mr Luong Trung Thanh’s fund and the Ho Chi Minh Sponsoring Association for Poor People, Huynh Giao has received the heart surgery she desperately needed.



Nhi Khuyen

Nhi Khuyen is one years old and the youngest of 3 children.  Her parents are agricultural workers and the family survives off an annual income of approximately USD400 per annum.

Suffering from congenital heart disease, Nhi Khuyen’s future is bleak.  To improve her life expectancy and opportunities, she needs a heart operation imminently.  Although her parents work hard, they are simply unable to afford the life saving surgery essential for Nhi Khuyen’s survival.

Nhi Khuyen’s heart surgery was sponsored by Heartbeat Vietnam—VinaCapital Foudation.  Additionally, funds were donated by the Merlin Family and Lexie Stoddard and Grace’s Cookies through Grace’s Cookies, the local government and Giving IT Back to Kids Organisation.

 



Hoang Long

Four year old Hoang Long suffers from a ventricular sepal defect – Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Surgery is essential for him to enjoy a lifestyle taken for granted by his contemporaries.  Considering his parents’ annual income of less than $450 per annum and the need for him to travel to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment, this life saving surgery is unlikely.

Long’s surgery was sponsored by Heartbeat Vietnam—VinaCapital Foundation, in addition to donations received from Marsha Faires through Grace’s Cookies, Giving It Back to Kids Organisation and the local government.

 



An Phu

One-year old Anh Phu was born with a sepal heart defect and requires surgery as soon as possible to ensure a future free of problems related to his congenital heart problems.

He lives with his parents, agricultural workers, and grandparents.  Between them, they earn less than USD50 per month.  Consequently, the likelihood of Anh Phu reeiving a timely and necessary operation funded by his family, is small.

Anh Phu’s surgery was sponsored by Heartbeat Vietnam—VinaCapital Foundation with the funds received from the Merlin Family, Lexie Stoddard and Grace’s Cookies, through Grace’s Cookies and Giving It Back to Kids Organisation as well as the fund for children in Quany Ngai province.



Diem Hang

Three year old Diem Hang, suffers from congenital hear disease which on a daily bases manifests itself in laboured breathing and her lips going blue; additionally, because of her condition, she is small and underweight. Her widowed mother works as a brick layer to support Diem Hang as well as her two siblings. Unfortunately, her mother’s income is insufficient to cover the living expenses of 4 people, let alone the heart surgery essential for her middle daughter’s survival. Diem Hang’s heart surgery was sponsored by the El-Khoury Family through Grace’s Cookies, along with the Heartbeat Vietnam, VinaCapital Foundation, Giving it Back to Kids Org and the local government



Phuong Linh

Three year-old Phuong Linh has been suffering from congenital heart disease from birth.  She lives with her extended family; her great grandparents, grandparents, Father and two uncles, the latter studying at school.  Although her divorced Father works as a bricklayer and her Grandfather takes on seasonal work, the family survives on a meagre salary which makes it difficult for them to save for the costs of Phuong Linh’s heart surgery. 

Her surgery was sponsored by: Heartbeat Vietnam Foundation, the donor Holcim through Grace’s Cookies, The Fund for Poor Patients of Tam Duc Hospital and the Ho Chi Minh City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients.



Tran Van Trong

Trong is one and half years old and suffers from a perimembranous ventricular septal defect.  His father, a mason, earns about $170USD per month and supports Trong, his mother and sibling.  Living in a 20 square meter house, the family owns one pig, one bicycle and no land.  They are unable to finance the life saving surgery needed for their second child.  In addition to receiving some assistance from the local government, Trong’s heart surgery was sponsored by AIS Elementary School through Grace’s Cookies, Heartbeat Foundation and Giving It Back To Kids Org.



Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong

Phuong’s father is a fisherman bringing home an average pay of about $35 USD per month.  This salary supports four-year Phuong and her mother. Phuong’s mother cares for her full-time as she suffers from congenital heart disease. The family do not own land to cultivate, so are unable to supplement their small income. Life saving heart surgery is essential for Phuong’s survival. The local government sponsored Phuong’s surgery alongside Grace’s Cookies, Heartbeat Foundation and Giving it Back to Kids Org



Le Ba Dung

Four-year old Dung suffers from a ventricular septal defect, which requires surgery.  His mother provides for the family.  His father is unable to find a permanent job and he stays at home and looks after Dung and his five-year old sister.  Due to the meagre salary the mother earns, the family is unable to afford the cost of the heart surgery.  Dung has been sponsored by AIS Middle School, through Grace’s Cookies and the Heartbeat Foundation.



Boi San

Nine month year old Boi San was born with life threatening congenital heart disease.  Her mother is her full-time carer and her father, a mason, earns a low and unstable income.  Consequently, they cannot afford the life saving heart surgery that is essential for her survival.  Boi San’s heart surgery was sponsored by the International School of HCMC through Grace’s Cookies and the Heartbeat Foundation.



Phay Thi Thanh Tuyen

Phay Thi Thanh Tuyen (11 years old) lives with her mother and grandmother.  Tuyen’s mother is a farmer with an unstable and low income. The grandmother is too old to work. Tuyen can no longer attend school due to her health.  Her condition is considered life-threatening.  Tuyen’s heart surgery was sponsored by the Families Mercier, Favrod, Favre, El-Khoury and Kattan through Grace’s Cookies and the Heartbeat Foundation.



Nguyen Kim Thien Long

Nguyen Kim Thien Long is the first born of his family.  His father is a farmer with an unstable income of about $2 a day.  His mother stays home to care for her six month old son who since he was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition.  Long heart surgery was sponsored by the Families Mercier, Favrod, Favre, El-Khoury and Kattan through Grace’s Cookies and the Heartbeat Foundation.



Pham Huynh Bao Khanh

Pham Huynh Bao Khanh (3 months old) was born with a severe heart condition that required urgent surgery for her to live.  She has an eight year old brother who is going to school.  The father is a worker and the mother has quit her job to care for Bao Khanh.  They all live with her grandmother and uncle.  The grandmother works to earn money to help support the family.  The uncle is often sick and cannot keep a regular job.  Bao Khanh’s heart surgery was sponsored by the Families Mercier, Favrod, Favre, El-Khoury and Kattan through Grace’s Cookies and the Heartbeat Foundation.



Le Pham Gia Nghi

Le Pham Gia Nghi is one year old and has an older brother.  Her parents are both rice farmers but their income is not sufficient to cover needed medical treatment.  The El-Khouri, El-Kadi and Mercier families through Grace’s Cookies as well as the HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients and the local government sponsored her surgery.



Bui Quang Sang

Bui Quang Sang is 12 years old and has one older sister.  Despite great financial hardship, his parents have tried to keep Sang and his sister in school.  However, they are unable to cover the medical expenses for his surgery.  Sang’s surgery was sponsored by the American International School Middle School and Mrs Fisk in honor of Stacia Mariorani through Grace’s Cookies as well as the HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients and the local government.



Van Tu Phi

Phi is five years old and an only child.  His father is a hired farmer and his mother is unemployed.  His parents are unable to pay for his surgery.   His heart operation was sponsored by Grace’s Cookies through Heartbeat Foundation, the Fund for Children of Ca Mau province and HCMC Association for Poor Patients.



Thach Cao Nha Phuong

Phuong is two years old and an only child.  Both her parents are workers but are not able to earn enough to pay for Phuong’s medical needs.  Her heart operation was sponsored by Grace’s Cookies through Heartbeat Foundation, the Fund for Children of Ca Mau province and HCMC Association for Poor Patients.



Ho Thu Ha

Ha is eleven years old and an only child.  Her father is a hired worker and her mother stays home to care for Ha.  Ha’s heart operation was sponsored by Grace’s Cookies through Heartbeat Foundation, the Fund for Children of Ca Mau province and HCMC Association for Poor Patients.

 



Duong Ro Pin

Duong Ro Pin is two years old.  He is an only child.  His father abandoned the mother when she was three months pregnant so she had to return to her parents’ house to live.  The mother then had to leave Ro Pin with the grandmother and go to another province to find work as a laborer.  She is only able to send very little money back to help care for Ro Pin who lives with his grandmother and an uncle.  The grandmother cannot work since she is caring for her grandson.  All living expenses are covered by the uncle, who cannot afford to pay for Ro Pin’s surgery.  Ro Pin’s surgery was sponsored by Myrta and Michel Mercier through Grace’s Cookies.



Bui Ngoc Long

Bui Ngoc Long is one year old.  She is the youngest of four children, the eldest child died at the age of seven years of a serious disease.  The mother stays home to care for the three children.  The father is a farmer and has a second job repairing machinery.  In the last year, the father has suffered from arthritis which is making it difficult for him to work.  Ngoc Long’s health is deteriorating and urgently needs an operation.   Ngoc Long’s surgery was sponsored by Veronique and Mario El Khoury through Grace’s Cookies.



Tang Minh Hoang

Tang Minh Hoang is five years old.  He lives with his older brother and parents.  The father is a farmer and the mother stays home to care for Minh Hoang.  Due to the family’s very low income and the need to cover living and schooling expenses, the family cannot cover Hoang’s medical costs.  Minh Hoang’s surgery was sponsored by Veronique and Mario El Khoury through Grace’s Cookies.



Vo Thi Quynh Nhu

Vo Thi Quynh Nhu is one year old.  She is the only child of her parents.  They all live with the grandparents who still have three school aged children at home.  In addition to heart disease, she also has cataracts.  The heart surgery is most urgent after which the doctors will have to do eye surgery to save her sight.  The parents are farmers though the mother has had to stop in order to care for Quynh Nhu.  The grandparents are also farmers but have to use all their income to take care of their three children so there is no money to pay for medical care.  Quynh Nhu’s surgery was sponsored by the local government, Veronique and Mario El Khoury through Grace’s Cookies.



Ly Thi Kieu My

Ly Thi Kieu My is three years old.  She is the younger of two children in a family of five that includes the parents and maternal grandmother.  Her heart condition was detected when she was nine months old.  Her parents are hired laborers but the mother has had to stop working to care for Kieu My.  The grandmother is too old to work.  Kieu My’s surgery was sponsored by Tam Duc Hospital’s Fund, HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients, Veronique and Mario El Khoury through Grace’s Cookies.



Nguyen Ngoc Tuong Vy

Nguyen Ngoc Tuong Vy is one year old.  She was not only born with a heart disease but also with malnutrition.  Her parents are hired farmers with very low income.  The mother has had to stop working to care for Tuong Vy whose health is worsening daily.  Tuong Vy’s surgery was sponsored by ISHCMC Middle School Bake Sale Group and Grace’s Cookies.



Pham Nguyen Gia Dinh

Pham Nguyen Gia Dinh is three and a half years old.  He is the youngest of two boys.  His parents are both farmers in addition to which they each do other hired work to add to their monthly income.  Due to the heavy time demands of their work, they are unable to care for their sons who live with their elderly grandmother, herself in poor health.  The family income is not enough to cover cost of heart surgery.  Gia Dinh’s surgery was sponsored by Holcim Beton and Grace’s Cookies through Heartbeat Foundation.



Le Vo Quy Thanh

Le Vo Quy Thanh is seven months old.  He is the third son.  His heart condition was detected when he was five days old.  His condition is considered to be very severe.  His father is a worker and his mother is unemployed; the family income is quite low and unstable making difficult to meet the daily needs of the family and impossible to pay for necessary medical treatment.  Thanh’s surgery was sponsored by HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients, AIS Elementary School Cookie Crew and Grace’s Cookies through Heartbeat Foundation.



Vo Hoang Son

Vo Hoang Son is eight years old.  His heart disease was detected when he was five months old.  Hoang Son has two sisters.  His mother stays home to care for him.   His father is a mason whose monthly income to too small to cover the living, schooling and medical needs of his family.  Hoang Son’s surgery was sponsored by HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients and Grace’s Cookies through Heartbeat Foundation.



Nguyen Van Nga

Nguyen Van Nga is four years old.  He is the second child in a family that includes an older sister, one set of grandparents and his parents.  His mother stays home to care for him and his father works catching fish.  The family income is insufficient to cover Nga’s basic medical needs.  The parents may have to take the older sister out of school due to lack of funds.  Nga’s surgery was sponsored by HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients, AIS Student Concil and Grace’s Cookies through Heartbeat Foundation.



Le Vo Thanh An

Le Vo Thanh An is an only child.  His father’s job as a mechanic is insufficient to cover the cost of treatment and surgery.  His mother stays home to care for him.  He was operated in February, funded in part by a generous donation from Catherine Migliarini and her family, through Grace’s Cookies.



Nguyen Vu Truong Son

Nguyen Vu Truong Son is the youngest of two children.  At three month’s of age, he was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease.  Although both parents were workers, the mother had to stop to care for Truong Son, so now their income is very low.  Truong Son was operated in February 2012, funded in part by a generous donation from Catherine Migliarini who raised the money by organizing “Christmas Dinners” at the parish of Sacre Coeur in Lausanne, Switzerland, through Grace’s Cookies.



Tran Dai Viet

Tran Dai Viet is the youngest of three children and was born with one of the most serious kinds of heart disease.  He had already undergone a first surgery in 2010 but required another to be able to live a normal life.  Dai Viet was operated in February 2012, funded in part by a generous donation from Christine Mercier, Justin Favrod, Francoise Favre, Edouard Mercier, Veronique and Mario El-Khoury, through Grace’s Cookies.



Diep Ha Tien

Diep Ha Tien lives with her parents and an uncle.  Her parents managed with great difficulty to finance a first operation when Ha Tien was six years old but due to her heart condition a second operation was required that was beyond their means.  Ha Tien was operated in February 2012, funded in part by a generous donation from Christine Mercier, Justin Favrod, Francoise Favre, Edouard Mercier, Veronique and Mario El-Khoury, through Grace’s Cookies.



Thach Thi Yen

Ven is the youngest child of five children from an extremely poor family. Her heart disease meant she was always sick and needed regular visits to the hospital. Ven’s surgery was eventually carried out in October 2011, funded in part by a generous donation from Veronique & Mario El-Khoury, through Grace's Cookies.



Luong Hoang Phat

Born with congenital heart disease, Hoang Phat is the only child in a very hardworking but very poor family. In October 2011 Hoang Phat’s surgery was funded in part by a generous donation from Veronique & Mario El-Khoury, through Grace's Cookies.



Nguyen Thanh Long

Born in 2011 Thanh Long has been suffering from not only congenital heart disease but also a facial deformity. His parents were unable to afford the open heart surgery desperately required for Thanh Long’s survival but proceeds raised by Grace’s Cookies amongst others has meant that this surgery was possible in October 2011  to give Thanh Long a chance at a normal healthy life.



Ngo Bao Tran

Bao Tran is the only child in this very poor, single-parent family. Although her mother works very hard as a hired laborer her income is still meager and unstable. Providing for their daily needs alone is extremely difficult, so being able to afford the cost of surgery that Bao Tran required was thought to be impossible. With the help of Grace’s cookies and the AIS K Kids Club this vital open heart surgery was sponsored for Bao Tran in October 2011.



Nguyen Hong Phuoc

Phuoc has lived with a heart problem for the last thirteen years of his life which has had a debilitating effect on him causing him to fall behind on his school work and has meant he has not been able to lead a normal life. With fears that Phuoc would die if he did not receive immediate treatment, Heartbeat Vietnam arranged open heart surgery in June 2011 with Graces Cookies and Elodie and Damien Katt as matching donors.



Tran Thanh Tam

Seven-year-old Tam was diagnosed with congenial heart disease when he was 8 months old but sadly his parents have never been able to afford for him to have treatment. In March 2011 doctors at the Heart Institute advised that surgery would be essential for Tam to be able to live a normal and healthy life and in June he was sponsored for this with Grace’s Cookies and the AIS Kids Club acting as his matching donor.



Huynh Quang Truong

Born deaf and dumb Quang Truong was diagnosed with Patent DuctusAteriosus at 5 months old,causing him to suffer from severe chest pains and coughing fits throughout the night. Quang Truong’s parents were told on several occasions that immediate heart surgery was desperately needed for him but they were unable to afford the costs involved. Sponsorship wasarranged by Heartbeat Vietnam, with Graces Cookies and the AIS Kids Club as matching donors, so that in June 2011 he was finally able to receive the surgery he needed.



Pham Thi Ngan

Born in 1999 Ngan is the the oldest of three children born to a poor family living in An Giang province.
With the costs of daily life already a struggle the surgery Ngan urgently required was already out of her parents reach.With Grace’s Cookies and the AIS Kids Clubacting as matching donors were instrumental in their role in raising the funds so Ngan’svital open heart surgery could successfully take place in June 2011.



Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi

Two year-old Yen Nhi is the youngest daughter in her family. The entire family live off her father’s very low and unstable income whilst Yen Nhi’s mother had to quit her job to stay home to take care of Nhi and her siblings. Heartbeat Vietnam enabled Yen Nhi to receive life-changing surgery in April 2011.



Luong Thi Kieu Chinh

16 month–old Kieu Chinh’s heart problem was detected when the VinaCapital Foundation held a medial outreach clinic in March 2011. His mother and father both earn a very low income and because of this they are forced to live with his grandparents and they don’t have the means to afford his much-needed operation. Thanks to Heartbeat Vietnam Chinh was given an operation in April 2011.



Nguyen Minh Quan

Minh Quan’s symptoms of heart disease were detected from birth.He is constantly sick and tired which means he has to spend a lot of time in hospital. Not only is this an upsetting environment for a child but it has also impacted his father’s work and has meant his mother has had to give up her job to look after him. Quan was given a Heartbeat Vietnam operation in April 2011.
