1000 cookies, 200 students, 1 heart

Dear Readers,

We can proudly say that we had saved a child’s heart and life. We want to say thanks to Ms. Margo and her Grace’s Cookies Charity Organization.

Selling the cookies was the hard part, how to attract the attention of the buyers. It was so fun while selling with the knowledge that the money will go towards a boy who will be having a heart surgery that will totally change his life from our money. Can you imagine that?! You are saving someone’s life. It is true, when you buy a cookie and enjoy yourself with the cookie, you are contributing in helping this little boy with his surgery. When a customer approaches, we all fill ourselves with joy, knowing that another person is going to help you save this child’s life. Yeah, like WOW, the moment we said thanks to our customers, we were really grateful that people would use their money for such a beautiful purpose and not just for themselves. All the sales sold out exceptionally quick. Everyone kept crowding around the selling table waiting for his or her turn to buy the heaven-like cookies. We finished the sales satisfactorily, and were all glad to help!

On Thursday, the 23rd of April, 2012, we went to visit the little boy who we had tried all this time raising money from casual days at school and Grace's Cookies sales to pay for a heart operation that changed his life. His name is Nguyễn Văn Ngà and he is so sweet. All of us, of course, smiled with him but was really sad to know his story. Before getting this surgery, Ngà always encounter symptoms like coughing, sneezing or whatever as well as having a very weak heart. But from all the money that you guys took and gave to this boy from buying Grace’s Cookies and donating for wearing casual, this Ngà's life has totally been changed. He was very energetic the day we met him.

During the hospital visit, Nga’s mom was smiling with her healthy little boy. We brought him lots of toys to play with and Teena (AIS 8th grader) even gave him a beautiful teddy bear, which he held on to and hugged. We made a card for him that says: "More than 1000 cookies, More than 200 students, 1 heart". We had tried this much to save this little boy and we were very happy to be there with him. At first, he looked like he was scared of all of us strangers to him. When we told his mom that we did all this to save this little child, her face turned into a very thankful look. We were the ones who helped but when seeing her expression, a thankful but sad expression, you can't stop yourself from getting this emotion of the moment, seeing such a happy mom with a face that will really print into your mind.

We were all very happy to help this little boy retrieve the beautiful life he deserves and we will always be proud that we had helped him! Help someone with something and you will surely feel great!
